Brian Batzli is currently a partner and chairman emeritus of Merchant & Gould. He served as the firm’s CEO, managing director, and chairman of the board from 2011 through 2018. Brian has been with the firm for over thirty years practicing in all areas of intellectual property.
Prior to joining Merchant & Gould, Brian was a staff attorney with CPT Corporation handling general corporate legal matters. He is admitted to practice in Minnesota and Washington and is a registered patent attorney.
Brian is active with several professional bar associations. He currently serves as the treasurer of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and is a past president of the Minnesota Intellectual Property Law Association. A frequent lecturer on intellectual property law, Brian was an adjunct professor at Hamline University School of Law from 1994 to 2000 teaching computer law and patent law-related courses.
