Experience
Christine Szaj joined William Mitchell College of Law in January 2015 (along with the first cohort of students in the “hybrid JD” program) as vice president of student affairs. She remained in that position during the first 18 months as the school transitioned to Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Her responsibilities included oversight of student affairs, registrar, career and professional development, multicultural and diversity, and counseling. In July 2016, she became vice president of community relations and operations and, among other duties, coordinated the school’s Mobile Law Office program. In 2020, she was named to her current position, vice president of institutional management and is responsible for institutional and program accreditation, compliance with federal and state regulations, and management of various institutional projects. She also serves as the school’s Title IX Coordinator.
Chris’ previous positions include executive search manager for presidential searches at Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, president’s chief of staff at Augsburg University, associate dean of administration at SMU Dedman School of Law, Dallas, assistant dean of students at Saint Louis University School of Law (where she also taught courses in Law and Social Work and Children and the Law), Assistant Attorney General at the Missouri Office of the Attorney General, and a crisis intervention social worker in cooperation with the St. Louis City Police Department. She served on the board of Project for Pride in Living, a Twin Cities non-profit that focuses on housing and career development from 2013 to 2022.
