Julie Nelson is a criminal defense attorney. She works for the Office of the Minnesota Appellate Public Defender, representing indigent clients in their appeals to the Minnesota Court of Appeals and Supreme Court. Julie’s caseload is comprised primarily of serious felonies, including homicides, drug offenses, and criminal sexual conduct cases. Julie was previously in private practice where she successfully represented individuals charged with criminal offenses at both the trial and appellate levels, in both state and federal court. Throughout her career, Julie has lectured to various professional groups on a wide range of criminal law topics. She received her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and graduated cum laude from Hamline University School of Law. Julie is admitted to practice in Minnesota, the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
