Ashley Pattain (she/her) is an attorney and health care compliance leader committed to advancing equity and access to justice. She serves as director of compliance and regulatory affairs at Canvas Health and is the founder of Pattain Legal Help, a low-bono and pro bono family law practice dedicated to making legal services more accessible to underserved individuals and families.
Before entering private practice, Pattain served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Referee Jenese Larmouth in Minnesota’s Second Judicial District. She also brings nearly 20 years of experience working in highly regulated health care environments, with a focus on privacy, regulatory compliance, risk management, and public health.
Pattain volunteers with Tubman and the Volunteer Lawyers Network’s Trans & Queer Legal Clinic, providing legal assistance to individuals and families in need. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Clare Housing and the Minnesota Lavender Bar Association.
Ashley earned her J.D. and Health Law Certificate from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where she served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Public Policy and Practice. She was recognized by the Minnesota Justice Foundation for completing more than 100 hours of law-related public service. Across her work in health care, the legal profession, and community service, Pattain is passionate about expanding access to justice, promoting equitable systems, and strengthening LGBTQ+ and other underserved communities.
