Principal Attorney, Adult Representation Services
Carman Leone is a principal attorney at Hennepin County’s Adult Representation Services and serves part time as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Minnesota Air National Guard as the Staff Judge Advocate at the 133rd Airlift Wing. He is a mission-driven leader with 15 years of experience in public defense and military law, recognized for combining high-level litigation expertise with a deep commitment to developing the next generation of attorneys. Among his assignments on active duty, he served as an assistant professor of law at the U.S. Air Force Academy. There he taught an Introduction to Law course, Negotiations, and Trial Advocacy. As principal attorney at ARS, he has led transformative initiatives, such as designing the attorney onboarding and training programs, that have strengthened both the quality and sustainability of advocacy at ARS. He also leads the parent representation practice area, overseeing 18 parent representation attorneys and their advocacy to indigent clients in Hennepin County. His leadership style is grounded in integrity, accountability, and service.
