Dana Jones

Dana G. Jones is an associate professor and director of the Health Law Institute at Mitchell Hamline School of Law. A health law scholar, seasoned practitioner, and award-winning educator, she has spent more than two decades building an intellectual and professional life at the intersection of health care systems, technology governance, and civil rights. Her appointment as director of the Health Law Institute marks a natural confluence of her private practice experience and academic careers, both rooted in the full complexity of health policy. Jones envisions reframing the national conversation about artificial intelligence, health equity, and transformative teaching. Jones served as an assistant professor of law at North Carolina Central University School of Law, where she was recognized for excellence in teaching and as Professor of the Year in consecutive years.

Jones is credentialed as an Emerging Technology Leader through the NCCU Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Research. She also holds certifications in teaching pedagogy and artificial intelligence governance. She earned a juris doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law and an LL.M. in health law from Loyola University Chicago. Jones is licensed to practice in Illinois and North Carolina and is admitted to the United States Supreme Court. Her recent scholarship appears in the University of Illinois Elder Law Journal, DePaul Journal of Health Care Law, the Michigan State International Law Review, and the NC Civil Rights Law Review.
