Dena Ehrich ’04

Dena Ehrich currently serves as vice president and associate chief intellectual property (IP) counsel for 3M’s Transportation and Electronics Business Group. She also serves as corporate secretary for 3M Innovative Properties Company.

She joined 3M’s Office of Intellectual Property Counsel in 2007 and served as primary global IP counsel for various 3M businesses. She also served in 3M’s Office of General Counsel as well as the leader for IP teams supporting 3M’s Corporate Research and Development organization, Consumer Business Group, and Safety an Industrial Business Group.

Before joining 3M, she was an associate attorney at a Minneapolis law IP firm. Prior to her legal career, Ehrich spent eight years in operations management and engineering positions at various global companies.

Ehrich serves on the boards of University of Minnesota Duluth’s Swenson College of Science and Engineering and the Intellectual Property Owners Education Foundation. She also provides pro bono legal services to various clients through Justice North and is admitted to practice before the Leech Lake Tribal Court.

In her spare time, Ehrich enjoys in studio and plein air painting. She co-founded a (3M)akers Club at 3M, which is a group for makers, artists, authors, and creatives in the company. Ehrich has a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and a juris doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law. She is a registered U.S. patent attorney and is admitted to the Minnesota state bar.
