Kelly Burgess

Kelly Burgess is an assistant teaching professor in the legal writing program at Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Before joining Mitchell Hamline, she taught legal writing to undergraduate students through Liberty University Online’s School of Law and School of Government. She also served in several faculty roles at North Carolina Central University School of Law, including legal writing professor, director of bar preparation, and academic support specialist.

Burgess’s experience also includes a clerkship with Judge Linda M. McGee of the North Carolina Court of Appeals. During law school, she completed an externship with Justice Edward Thomas Brady of the North Carolina Supreme Court, worked as a real property tutor and research assistant, and held a leadership position in her law school’s chapter of the Black Law Students Association.
