Administrative Law Judge, Minnesota Department of Human Services
Judge Dees is a seasoned attorney with over twenty seven years of public service experience. He is an administrative law judge with the Minnesota Department of Human Services. Judge Dees was a prosecutor with the United States Attorney’s Office, District of Minnesota, and the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office. In his years as a prosecutor, Judge Dees tried well over one-hundred felony cases to a jury. Judge Dees was also staff attorney for the Minnesota Supreme Court, State Court Administration, and clerked for Judge Harry Crump in Hennepin County. Judge Dees has taught at Hamline Mitchell College of Law since 1999. He teaches trial skills, advance trial skills, and teaches in the hybrid and externship programs. He has also taught trial skills for National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) and National District Attorney’s Association at the National Advocacy Center, and taught legal writing at North Hennepin Community College. Judge Dees received his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law where he was the Warren E. Burger Scholarship award recipient. Judge Dees graduated with undergraduate degrees in political science and psychology from Morehouse College.
