Emerita Professor of Law
Professional Focus
Professor Haugen’s interests focus on biomedical ethics, especially end of life care.
“In my nearly 30 years of teaching, I have found the law to be most interesting at its intersections with other disciplines, particularly medicine and moral philosophy. Often the law is silent or gives inadequate answers to ethical dilemmas we expect it to resolve. By encouraging understanding of the laws limitations as well as its possibilities, I hope to help students become better counselors to those they will serve.”
