Associate Justice, Minnesota Supreme Court
Justice Aligada has represented individuals at all stages of federal criminal cases in U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit at the Office of the Federal Defender. He was an attorney at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi. He clerked for Judge Michael J. Davis at the United States District Court and Judge Wilhelmina M. Wright at the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
Judge Aligada served the Second Judicial District on the Ramsey County District Court from 2019 to 2026, having been appointed by Governor Tim Walz on Sept. 23, 2019, then standing successfully for election to the court in 2020.
On May 19, 2026, Judge Aligada was appointed by Governor Walz to serve as an associate justice on the Minnesota Supreme Court. He assumed his new role on the Supreme Court on Oct. 1, 2026.
