On Monday, March 5, 2018, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Tanya O’Brien to the bench in Minnesota’s First Judicial District. Previously, she was an Assistant Ramsey County Attorney who worked as a prosecutor on the criminal trial team. Her caseload was focused on prosecuting family violence matters including criminal sexual conduct cases involving children as well as physical assaults involving children. She started prosecuting in 2005 as an Assistant Scott County Attorney before joining the Ramsey County trial team in 2014.
She co-teaches a course on Child Abuse and the Law at Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
