Adjunct/Affiliated Professor
Valerie Werness is a cum laude graduate of Carleton College and a cum laude graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School. She practiced for ten years, four as a partner, primarily in the areas of employment law, general business and corporate matters, commercial real estate, real estate finance, and commercial real estate litigation. Val later joined Legal Research Center, where she was a Senior Research Manager. Val’s focus over the years shifted from drafting legal briefs and court documents for Legal Research Center’s customers to specializing in multi-jurisdictional research and analysis, including legislative and regulatory tracking in topical areas of law. Val’s research and project management experience includes directing an attorney team developing a comprehensive legal resource for a major financial institution and serving as project manager for a multi-year product development initiative with a leading legal publisher.
Val has retired from full-time employment, but continues as an Adjunct Professor at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where she has taught skills-oriented classes to law students since 1994.
