Adjunct/Affiliated Professor
Valerie Werness is a cum laude graduate of Carleton College and a cum laude graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School. She practiced for ten years, four as a partner, primarily in the areas of general business and corporate matters, commercial real estate, real estate finance, and commercial real estate litigation. Val later joined Legal Research Center, where she was a senior research manager. Val’s focus over the years shifted from drafting legal briefs and court documents for Legal Research Center’s customers to specializing in multi-jurisdictional research and analysis, including legislative and regulatory tracking in topical areas of law. Val’s research and project management experience includes directing an attorney team developing a comprehensive legal resource for a major financial institution and serving as project manager for a multi-year product development initiative with a leading legal publisher.
Val has retired from full-time employment but continues as an adjunct professor at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where she has taught skills-oriented classes to law students since 1994.
