Train to be an attorney with mock trial!
The try-outs for mock trial will be with Judge Cindy McCollum. The tryouts will be held over zoom. If you are interested in trying out, please contact Judge McCollum at Cynthia.mccollum@courts.state.mn.us directly for more information and to schedule the zoom try-out. For the try outs, students will need to prepare an opening statement of 5 minutes and short cross examination using a case that will be provided by Judge McCollum. Students can pick either plaintiff or defendant for their opening and cross exam. If students make the team, they will get 2 credits for their work.
Judge McCollum has assembled winning teams for the last 15 years. Mock trial participants from Mitchell have won the regional competitions or placed as regional runner up 7 times since 2012. The National competition will be in early November 2020.
