The Self Help Clinic will be returning for the spring semester! The Clinic is a great way to get hands-on experience interviewing clients and issue spotting in real time. We offer services in Family Law and Criminal Expungement. Everyone is welcome to volunteer with the clinic (including 1Ls) and you will receive MJF volunteer hours.
If you are interested in volunteering, sign up on this GOOGLE FORM before Thursday, February 3.
The clinic will start on Saturday, February 12 and run every Saturday through April 16. There will be no clinic the week of spring break (March 26). Clinic times are 10:00a-12:00p and volunteers are expected to arrive at the clinic around 9:50a.
Training is mandatory for all first-time volunteers and people switching clinics (i.e., volunteered in Family Law Fall 2021, and want to volunteer in Expungement Spring 2022). If you volunteered in Fall 2021 and are remaining in the same clinic, training is optional. We will be discussing a few additional topics at training so you are more than welcome to attend if you’d like.
Training is scheduled for the morning of the first clinic, Saturday February 12, from 8:30a-9:30a. We are not sure if it will be offered in-person or via Zoom so please indicate your preference. If we end up having only a few people sign up for in-person, we will probably just do it all via Zoom. Training videos and resources will be sent out to everyone after the clinic, so if you are not required to attend you will still have access to the information.
We continue to follow the school’s guidelines for everything COVID-19 related. This includes masks, vaccines, and social distancing while at the clinic. Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide breakfast or snacks for the time being. If the eating/drinking restrictions are eventually lifted we will send out a survey to collect information on food preferences and allergies.
If you have any questions, please contact Zoe Graham (email@example.com) or Khou Yang (firstname.lastname@example.org).
