Interested in a fall externship as a blended and/or part-time student? An externship is a for-credit field placement doing lawyering work with the support of an on-site supervisor as well as a faculty supervisor. Now is the time to get started identifying a fall field placement. As a first step, you should review the Guide for Initiating & Finding Field Placements and the Overview of Externships in the Mitchell Hamline Blended Learning and Part-Time Programs. As you explore placement opportunities, provide the Overview document to potential field sites to explain how externships work, including site supervisor responsibilities.
It is in your best interest to begin finding and initiating your placement as soon as possible. If you would like some guidance in finding a site, please contact your Career and Professional Development Advisor through your Success Network on Starfish. You can also send an email request to careers@mitchellhamline.edu.
To apply for an externship, you must complete the online externship proposal form available through your Student Record. Your site supervisor must have agreed to work with you before you complete the form. The form must be submitted by Friday, June 30. If you are unable to make the June 30 proposal deadline due to delays that are beyond your control, please contact your academic advisor to discuss options.
