Alizabeth Mashkawiziikwe Candler is an enrolled citizen of the Lac Courte Oreilles Lake Superior Band of Chippewa Indians. She holds a B.A. in Spanish and an M.A. in Spanish from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Alizabeth also holds an M.A. in Native American Studies from the University of New Mexico, where she is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Chicana and Chicano Studies. Her interests include Native American Sovereignty and Self-Determination, Indigenizing/Decolonizing Education, Native American Repatriation, Native American Research Methods, Tribal Critical Race Theory, and Latin American Cultural Studies.
