Senior Staff Attorney, Public Health Law Center
Tonya Cureton Curry is a senior staff attorney with the Public Health Law Center. Tonya provides legal technical assistance to stakeholders and advocates on issues impacting health and climate equity as part of the center’s recently established climate program.
Tonya served as deputy commissioner of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs where she was responsible for all aspects of the state’s affordable housing programs and initiatives. Throughout twenty-five years in state government, Tonya previously served as deputy commissioner and general counsel for the Georgia Department of Human Services, as a faculty member and as a department chair within the University System of Georgia and the Technical College System of Georgia, as an assistant attorney general, as assistant commissioner of securities and as deputy chief of staff to Governor Roy Barnes. Tonya was an associate in the Atlanta office of Kutak Rock specializing in bond finance.
