George E. Young was born in 1864 in Watseka, Illinois and moved to Minneapolis as a young man. He attended Archibald’s Business College in Minneapolis, and spent three years at Hamline University. He graduated from the University of Minnesota’s law program in 1891. Along with his law practice, Young managed a fur business and laundry.
Young Incorporated the Northwestern College of Law in 1912, though he claimed to have founded it in 1909. He was also involved in the first attempt at the creation of the Minneapolis College of Law in 1912, though it would not open its doors until over a decade later. He died in 1927.
