Raymond Krause earned his B.S. in 1973 and his J.D. in 1978, both from Georgetown University. He was a legislative assistant for Senators William Armstrong and Peter H. Dominick (R, CO) and Representative Silvio Conte (R, MA), and Senator Howard Baker was a mentor. He later worked in government relations for the National Association of Manufacturers, Pfizer Corporation and TRW, Inc. In1984, he became Senior Vice President for Government and Community Affairs at the Pillsbury Company and its successor, Grand Metropolitan Inc.
In 1994, Krause was named dean of Hamline University School of Law. He started the Dean’s Advisory Council, and focused law school resources on developing an alternative dispute resolution program.
Krause went on to serve as a judge on the Minnesota Tax Court from 1998-2003, and as assistant commissioner for tax policy for the Minnesota Department of Revenue. In 2004, he was appointed Chief Judge of the Office of Administrative Hearings, where he served until he retired in 2013. He was president of the board of Change Inc, and a member of the lawyer motorcycle club, Street Legal.
