Several members of the Mitchell Hamline community are being honored as Minnesota Lawyer’s 2016 Attorneys of the Year.
Mitchell Hamline Professor Eric Janus, former president and dean of William Mitchell College of Law, is receiving an Outstanding Service to the Profession award, as are two distinguished alums: retired Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Esther Tomljanovich ’55 and Loretta Frederick ’78, senior legal policy advisor for the Battered Women’s Justice Project.
Alum Virginia Bell ’83 is also being honored for her work with the recently launched Collaborative Community Law Initiative, a Mitchell Hamline partner that helps recent graduates set up community-based, low bono law practices.
The recipients will be recognized at the 17th annual Attorneys of the Year awards program, Feb. 16 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Minneapolis.
