Mitchell Hamline’s Child Protection Program will tackle the complex issue of children who sexually abuse other children at a symposium on Friday, Feb. 24, on the Mitchell Hamline campus.
The daylong CLE event will feature national and local experts who work with children who are both survivors and perpetrators of sexual abuse.
Panel discussions and presentations will focus on:
- Best practices for the nation’s child protection, juvenile delinquency, and public health systems
- How the child protection system responds to these abuse cases
- How the system works with other systems to provide the best treatment for children and their families
- Current policies relating to community notification and registration of children convicted of sexual offenses
The program is especially pertinent for judges, attorneys, stakeholders in the child protection, juvenile delinquency, and public health systems. Policy makers and members of the public are also encouraged to attend. Application has been made for 6.5 hours of CLE credit.
The fee for the symposium is $75. Public interest attorneys qualify for a discounted rate of $50.
Current law students can attend for free.
Lunch and break beverages are included. Attendees are invited to a reception following the day’s program.
