A group of students from Mitchell Hamline’s Black Law Students Association will attend the 27th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Breakfast on Monday, Jan. 16, at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
This year’s keynote speaker is Myrlie Evers-Williams, a journalist and civil rights activist. Evers-Williams’ husband was civil rights leader Medgar Evers, who was assassinated in 1963. Twin Cites Public Television will air the community celebration live starting at 8 am on the TPT2 channel and will stream it on the TPT site.
At 7 pm on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Mitchell Hamline President and Dean Mark Gordon will speak at Calvary Baptist Church in Minneapolis. Gordon will address how Americans can be true to King’s ideals, in spite of the challenges that face the nation.
