Genocide Prevention: A 21st-Century Challenge will be offered on Thursdays, 10:00-11:55 am, in a synchronous remote format, for 2 elective credits. It will be taught by Dr. Ellen Kennedy, Executive Director of World Without Genocide.
The course focuses on genocides in the past from the Holocaust to Rwanda, former Yugoslavia, and Darfur, and genocides today in Myanmar and China today; legal structures that supported genocide; international laws and policies of peacekeeping; post-genocide efforts to prosecute perpetrators and create justice through ad hoc and permanent international tribunals; and restorative programs.
