Dear Students,
We are now faced with the fact that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there “is” such a thing as being too late. This is no time for apathy or complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action.
– Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, April 4, 1967
Greetings! General Mills and the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) are pleased to present the 32nd annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Breakfast on Monday, January 17th, 2022 at 8:45 am as a VIRTUAL EVENT!
The theme of this year’s breakfast is “Fierce Urgency of Now,” where we will celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King’s bold vision, leadership, and fight for equal rights and be inspired to engage more deeply in our communities to create a better tomorrow today. This virtual celebration is an opportunity to reflect on Dr. King’s legacy while inspiring us to move and act to drive positive change. Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit the UNCF MLK Legacy Scholarship Fund, helping local students in their quest for higher education.
We are thrilled to announce our program will feature a virtual address by Laura Coates, CNN Host and Senior Legal Analyst, Constitutional Expert and Author. Laura specializes in the intersection of civil rights and criminal prosecution. A former federal prosecutor, Coates served as Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, as well as a Trial Attorney in the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, specializing in the enforcement of Voting Rights throughout the United States. Laura is a graduate of Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and the University of Minnesota Law School. She is also the bestselling author of ‘You Have the Right . . . A Constitutional Guide to Policing the Police’. (https://www.mlkbreakfast.com/lauracoates)
