Mitchell Hamline School of Law
Office of Career and Professional Development Newsletter
January 2022
Welcome to Spring Semester 2022!
As we head into the new year, the Career and Professional Development Office will be reaching out to you monthly to highlight upcoming programs, events, resources, and job opportunities of interest. If you have questions or suggestions of what you might like to see, please contact me or your career counselor.
A few reminders to kick off the new year:
• Are you familiar with Symplicity? It is Mitchell Hamline’s platform for posting externship opportunities, clerkships, and post graduate employment opportunities in Minnesota and around the country. We hear regularly from employers with employment opportunities for law students and new lawyers who are unable to find qualified candidates. Log into Symplicity today to check these opportunities out. If you have questions on how to access or use Symplicity, contact careers@mitchellhamline.edu or your career counselor.
• Professional Dress in a Remote World. With our move to virtual working, more employers and students are conducting job interviews, informational interviews, and networking over Zoom. How you present yourself on Zoom is as important as when you appear in person. Remember to dress professionally (suits, blazers, collared shirts, ties) and to minimize background distractions. Check out our Tips and Strategies for a Successful Virtual Presence and our Interview Dress Tip Sheet for more information.
• Stay Connected. Connect with us on Facebook or LinkedIn and stay tuned to the Docket throughout the semester. We regularly communicate about job opportunities and upcoming programs and other resources through those channels.
Wishing you a healthy and happy start to the new semester.
