The Minnesota Supreme Court is seeking three Mitchell Hamline School of Law students to work as Legal Residents during the Fall Semester 2022. This is an extraordinary opportunity that is available to a small number of Mitchell Hamline students each year.
During Fall 2022, Justice Anne McKeig. Justice Paul Thissen, and Justice Gordon Moore will each supervise one resident. These positions are full-time and the selected students will work in exchange for academic credit.
Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- Student in their final year of law school
- Strong academic performance while in law school
- Superior research, writing, and analysis skills
- Able to work in person or remotely as public health and the policies of the Minnesota Supreme Court allow. Currently the expectation is that the position will be fully in-person
- Students of diverse backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply
The selected students will begin work for the Minnesota Supreme Court in late August, timed with the start of the fall semester. Students will be notified whether they have been selected by early June.

All applications will be reviewed by a committee of Mitchell Hamline faculty, then finalists will be forwarded to the Minnesota Supreme Court for review and consideration by the Justices. The Justices will conduct interviews (likely via Zoom) during the middle to end of May.
