There are a number of volunteer opportunities for students and others in the Mitchell Hamline community to support Voter and Election Protection efforts in the upcoming election. The MN DFL has historically recruited law students and attorneys for these roles, because they have found the skills and training law students and attorneys have to be useful in these functions. However, non-attorneys/non-law students are also welcome to volunteer. Please see below for more information on volunteering with both the MN DFL and MN GOP this election season.
MN DFL : The MN DFL is seeking volunteers to serve as Voter Protection Poll Challengers, County Liaisons, and Hotline Volunteers. In particular, the MN DFL is specifically looking for volunteers for the Election Protection hotline who speak Spanish, Hmong, Somali and secondarily Russian, Amharic, Mandarin and Oromo, as well as students who are familiar with MN’s tribal communities and voting customs of the tribes to serve as poll challengers and other roles. More information on these opportunities can be found on the DFL Voter Protection Flyer or students can contact Simone Frierson (sfrierson@dfl.org) directly.
MN GOP: The MN GOP is seeking individuals to serve as Election Judges, and for volunteers to serve as Poll Challengers and other roles listed on the party’s website, such as observing election machine testing and election counting, driving voters tot he polls, helping voters find out where to vote, and more. More information on these opportunities can be found on the party’s website or students can email info@MNGOP.com to get in touch with the party directly.
