Appellate Practice Mentorship Program
The MSBA Appellate Practice Section is proud to kick off the second year of its Appellate Practice Mentorship Program. This program is intended to support and encourage students of all backgrounds, identities, viewpoints, and beliefs to pursue careers in appellate litigation. In particular, the Appellate Practice Section hopes to inspire students from backgrounds that are historically underrepresented in the appellate bar to explore appellate practice through this mentorship program. This program is part of the Section’s efforts to improve the diversity and inclusiveness of our membership and the Minnesota appellate bar more broadly.
- Through the program, students will be matched with appellate practitioners with the expectation that they will meet with their mentor at least twice in the semester. Mentors can help students in many ways, including understanding what an appellate practice looks like, choosing relevant coursework, developing the skills and experiences that pertain to appellate practice, and preparing to apply for clerkships.
- Students can sign up for this free program at this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YNB7W3D
- Also note that members of the Section would be happy to meet with students as a group and talk about appellate practice. Please reach out to Michael Goodwin at the michael.goodwin@ag.state.mn.us to make arrangements.
