Minnesota DFL Voter Protection Team is looking for volunteers to fill two positions for the upcoming November Election. We are working hard to engage young people and students in the voter protection process, and know that MHSL students have volunteered to do this work in the past.
Listed below are the two roles we are currently looking for volunteers to fill.
Poll Challengers – To protect voting rights on Election Day, DFL-designated challengers will be placed inside specific polling locations. DFL “challengers” serve as observers of the process and are not to challenge any voters. Instead, a challenger’s role is to serve as the eyes and ears of the DFL in and around polling locations. Challengers use a tool called LBJ to report incidents back to DFL staff and attorneys so they can be resolved quickly and appropriately on Election Day.
County Liaisons – County Liaisons focus on building relationships with the election officials in their assigned county and establishing an open line of communication leading up to November 8th. On Election Day, they communicate with election officials and the DFL to help solve issues that may arise. They also attend/observe the county canvassing board meeting that occurs 3-10 days after the election to officially certify that county’s results.
If you would like to sign up to volunteer, please fill out this form. We offer training for all of our volunteers and are always here to answer questions. Don’t hesitate to reach out if there is any additional information I can provide for you at this time.
