Minnesota Supreme Court: Legal Resident
Applications Now Being Accepted for Spring 2023

The Minnesota Supreme Court is seeking three (3) Mitchell Hamline School of Law students to work as Legal Residents during the Spring Semester 2023. This is an extraordinary opportunity made available to a small number of MH students each year.
During Spring 2023, Justice Anne McKeig. Justice Paul Thissen, and Justice Gordon Moore will each supervise one Resident. These positions can be either full or part-time, and selected students will work in exchange for academic credit.
Required Criteria for Applicants:
- Applicant must be in their final year to work as a Resident
- Passion to serve the people of the State of Minnesota
- Strong research, writing, and analysis skills
- Must be able to keep information confidential
- Able to work either in-person or remotely as public health and MN Supreme Court policies allow (currently, the position is a hybrid work situation)
- Students of diverse backgrounds highly encouraged to apply
Note: This position is meant for all MH students, regardless of academic ranking.

Selected students will be notified by mid-December. The Residency will begin in late January, timed with the start of the MH Spring semester.

- Applications will be reviewed by a committee of Mitchell Hamline faculty
- Finalist names will be forwarded to the Minnesota Supreme Court for selection by the Justices
- Justices will conduct interviews (via Zoom) the afternoon of November 30
