Come learn about MJF’s Paid Summer Fellowship program and Street Law Program on November 17th from 1-2 pm in room 125 or via zoom!
MJF Summer Fellowship Program (Open to 1Ls and 2Ls)
Every year MJF raises funds and solicits agencies to support public interest summer clerkships in Minnesota. Each clerk performs around 400 hours of legal service with the agency between the end of the spring semester 2023 and the first day of fall semester 2023 on a schedule that will be determined between the clerk and agency. MJF provides to the agencies a stipend. The stipend is paid by the agency to the law clerk over the course of the summer.
Past Summer Fellows will be at the info session to speak and answer questions.
MJF Street Law Program (Open to all law students)
Make the law come alive for youth – teach them about things that matter: their rights with respect t landlord-tenant law, student loans, criminal law, contracts, and more. Law students pair up and commi to teaching middle and high school students (and some adult learning centers) weekly during the Spring semester
Volunteers work with the classroom teachers to identify the most relevant topics for their class. Though you are responsible for the content of your sessions, there are many lesson plans and tools at your disposal.
Street Law volunteers will attend a MANDATORY two-day virtual training in January where they will learn about Street Law, teaching to middle/high school youth, how to be the best you that you can be, and leave prepared to teach in the spring!
Past street law volunteers will be at the info session to speak and answer questions.
