Seeking Candidates for Health Law Society

Interested in joining the Health Law Society Board for the 2023-2024 school year?

It’s time for the Health Law Society board elections! Serving in a leadership position for Health Law Society is a great way to network, boost your resume, and gain leadership experience. It is an invaluable experience to show your interest in health law to future employers.

There are five positions available. We are looking for students from all attendance options (BAM, blended, part-time) to apply for the board, as many HLS events are held virtually and are flexible for students to participate in from wherever they conduct school. All positions are open to current students that will be either a 2L, 3L, or 4L in 2023-2024 school year.

All positions contribute to event planning and organization of career panels, volunteer events, and other networking opportunities throughout the year. The positions corresponding responsibilities are:
  • President: (Christopher.meredith@mitchellhamline.edu)
    • Chair the HLS board.
    • Exposure to Health Law and the Health Law Society (“HLS”) within Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
    • Recruitment to the HLS as well as to Health Law Institute programming.
    • Participation in school events which feature student organizations.
    • Liaison between HLS and administration or SBA.
    • Lead meetings and events of the HLS.
    • Review all responsibilities and procedures with new officers.
  • Vice President: (Hanna.williams@mitchellhamline.edu)
    • Assist President with above matters or act as President in their absence.
    • Review responsibilities and procedures with newly elected Vice President at the end of term.
  • Secretary:  (Emma.doebler@mitchellhamline.edu)
    • Perform the duties of the President in the absence of the President and Vice President.
    • Record minutes from all meetings and circulate to board members.
    • Maintain a permanent file of all minutes, membership lists and handouts.
    • Sign or countersign any reimbursement forms.
    • Review responsibilities and procedures with newly elected Secretary at the end of term.
    • Update HLS Canvas page.
  • Treasurer: (Abdur.amin@mitchellhamline.edu)
    • Management of all HLS financial matters.
    • Prepare and present budget proposal for the SBA.
    • Maintain organized record of budget throughout the school year.
    • Perform book keeping.
    • Present financial updates at board meetings.
    • Request additional funds from SBA as needed.
    • Prepare financial report at the end of the school year if requested by SBA.
    • Review responsibilities and procedures with newly elected Treasurer at the end of term.
  • Outreach Director: (Traci.Kreuziger@mitchellhamline.edu)
    • Inform members of the student body of meetings, events and activities related to the HLS, HLI and other Health Law related events within the Twin Cities via email and The Docket.
    • Manage HLS email list.
    • Update HLS Facebook group with events.
    • Schedule rooms and equipment for HLS event or create Zoom meetings.
    • Organize food or beverages for HLS events.
    • Review responsibilities and procedures with newly elected Outreach Director at the end of term.

On Monday, April 17th, we will send out a ballot to HLS members via email to vote on placement of new board members.
