Genocides are never over; the trauma echoes across generations. This webinar explores the little-known French Kindertransports, or children’s transports, which allowed Jewish children in France to escape to safety in the US.
Author Lilly Maier’s story begins when she was 11 years old. A Kindertransport participant, now 75 years old, knocked on the door of her family’s house in Vienna – where he and his family had lived before the Holocaust. Lilly explores the heroic efforts to save Jewish children, post-war restitution, and the intergenerational impact of genocide.
