We hope that you all are having a great summer! We are excited to share that our Student Division (MILS-SD) is hosting a special event – An Introduction to Mindfulness: How Mindfulness Can Help You Succeed in Law School – on Thursday, August 29th at 6:00 pm ET/5:00 pm CT/3:00 pm PT. During this event, members of MILS will discuss the benefits of mindfulness and the importance of practicing mindfulness for both personal and professional success in the legal environment. Attendees will also have an opportunity to learn more about MILS, participate in a short, guided meditation, and hear from current MILS-SD student ambassadors about how mindfulness has helped them succeed in law school. The event is free and will run for one hour, including time for Q&A. Please click here to register. We encourage you to invite your friends and colleagues in the legal community to the event as well. Here is what some past and present student ambassadors have said about the effect joining MILS had on their lives: “Mindfulness has been absolutely vital to my surviving law school—and thriving. The skills MILS offers students have given me a unique advantage in my classwork. I have no doubt these same skills will make me a more competent, consummate lawyer.” – Jay Crawford, MILS Student Ambassador, JD Candidate 2026, Georgia State University College of Law “Without hyperbole, joining MILS saved my life during law school. Later, through networking, it helped me land my dream job. This is an incredible community, being part of which is one of the best decisions I have made.” – Alexander T. de Almeida, MILS Student Ambassador, JD/MBA Candidate 2025, University of Pittsburgh School of Law “Almost immediately after starting law school, I realized there was a huge need for student well-being and was so excited to find MILS in my first semester. MILS is a wonderfully supportive community of like-minded legal professionals who value and prioritize well-being. It has been amazing to meet so many dynamic people who have found balance in their lives through mindfulness practices and are sharing those practices with others.” – Jodi Klagos, MILS Student Ambassador, JD 2024, University of Wisconsin Law School Lynn LeMoine, JD | Dean of Students Mitchell Hamline School of Law Great in theory.
