Are you interested in starting your own solo or small legal practice as a new attorney?
Join the Inaugural MHSL Solo/Small Practice Student Mastermind
Mitchell Hamline is fortunate to be one of a small number of law schools in the country to host a law firm incubator program for its graduates who plan to open their own solo and small community-based law practices after graduation. As the first ABA-approved blended program in the nation, we are singularly poised to offer our incubator program to graduates nationwide.
MHSL’s law firm incubator program, LegalWise, is open to all Mitchell Hamline graduates and provides mentoring support and other resources to MHSL graduates interested in launching solo and small firm practices.
On Tuesday, October 29 at 4:30pm Central, LegalWise will host the first in a series of Solo/Small Practice Student Mastermind meetings for Mitchell Hamline students interested in learning more about solo and small legal practice.
The inaugural Mastermind session will be facilitated by LegalWise Executive Director Carla Tourin.
• Professor Leanne Fuith will speak about opportunities for Mitchell Hamline students interested in solo and small practice to gain both legal and business experience and Lawyer as Business Owner – Mitchell Hamline’s course which introduces students to the business aspects of working in a law firm of any size.
• Past LegalWise participant “advocates” will be on-hand to speak about their experiences in launching their own law practices:
o Tiffany Dust (2020 – 2021 Advocate): Law Office of Tiffany Dust, PLLC, a Twin Cities Family Law practice.
o Michelle Furrer (2024 – 2025 Advocate): GF Northwest Law, PLLC, a Washington State Environmental Law, Land Use Law, and Civil Litigation practice.
Students will also learn more about the resources that will provide them with a head-start on opening their own solo and small practices in Minnesota and around the country and will have the opportunity to discuss with other attendees the rewards and risks of hanging their own shingle.
The first Solo/Small Mastermind meeting will be held via Zoom at 4:30 Central on Tuesday, October 29 with ongoing meetings to be scheduled. All MHSL students are invited.
