The Minnesota Association for Justice (MAJ) is a legal organization for civil trial attorneys dedicated to protecting equal justice for all in courtrooms throughout Minnesota. The organization began informally in 1954.
Moderator: Alesia Strand
Alesia’s practice is devoted to representing disabled individuals through all stages of their private and employer-sponsored short and long term disability claims, as well as denied life and long term care insurance claims. The majority of her practice involves ERISA claims in Federal Court.

Stephanie Balmer
Stephanie Balmer represents injured and disabled people in personal injury, workers’ compensation, and Social Security disability claims in Minnesota and Wisconsin. She is a partner with the Falsani, Balmer, Peterson & Balmer law firm.
Elizabeth Fors
Liz Fors is a partner at Robins Kaplan. Liz is an advocate for individuals and families harmed by medical malpractice, wrongful death, or personal injury. She is a trial lawyer who holds the wrongdoers accountable and her clients seek justice.
Melissa Heinlein
Melissa practices in two areas: plaintiff personal injury and professional license defense. In her personal injury practice, she stands up to big insurance to get clients the compensation they deserve. In her professional license defense practice, she represents licensed professionals (including lawyers) before their licensing boards to protect their livelihood.
Sara Nachtman
Sara passionately and compassionately represents seriously injured people and their families. Her practice includes car and truck crashes, motorcycle collisions, and wrongful death cases. She has been a trial lawyer since 2008. She has tried numerous jury trials with successful results. She fights for her clients, and she wins.
She is an adjunct professor at Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Sara serves on the panel of Minnesota No-Fault Arbitrators. She is a qualified neutral under Rule 114 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice and She is a Minnesota State Bar Association Certified Civil Trial Specialist.
When Sara isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her three young children, mountain biking, snowboarding, golfing, and equestrian.
Sarah Soucie Eyberg
Sarah Soucie Eyberg is the principal attorney of Soucie Eyberg Law, LLC, practicing exclusively in the area of Social Security Disability law. Her dedication to professional excellence, development and service knows practically no bounds (just ask her husband). She is a member of several local and statewide legal organizations, and serves in leadership roles in nearly every organization.
Cody Scharpf
Cody Scharpf is an attorney at Schwebel, Goetz & Sieben practicing exclusively in the area of personal injury. Prior to joining Schwebel, she worked for an insurance company doing personal injury defense work. She has a unique perspective on handling injury cases on both sides of the table.
Rachel Sperling Leonard
A founding partner of Tyroler Leonard Injury Law, Ms. Sperling Leonard has run her own law practice for eleven years, building it from the ground up. She has handled thousands of personal injury claims, including numerous 7-figure cases. She specializes in car accidents, dog attacks, slip and falls, and sexual assaults. She has been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star for four consecutive years. Ms. Sperling Leonard is a fierce proponent of the rights of all her clients and uses her Spanish-language skills to advocate for those who many times otherwise struggle to be heard.
