Dear Mitchell Hamline Students,
We need you!
As part of our commitment to building a stronger, more engaged student community, the Elections Commission has reopened nominations for several key positions on the Student Bar Association (SBA) for the Spring 2025 elections.
This is your opportunity to step up and help shape the future of student life at Mitchell Hamline. Whether you’re passionate about advocacy, communication, community-building, or making sure student voices are heard—there’s a place for you on the SBA Board.
The following positions received no candidate petitions and urgently need representation:
- 4L BAM Rep
- 4L Blended Rep
- 3L Blended Sec 1 Rep
- 3L Blended Sec 2 Rep
- 3L Blended Sec 3 Rep
- 2L Blended Sec 3 Rep
The new nomination deadline is Monday, April 15, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. CST.
This extension is intended to give all students a genuine opportunity to get involved—whether by running for office or supporting candidates as voters. This decision aligns with Election Rule 2.01(a), which emphasizes the importance of ensuring that the election process is easy to understand and administer, maximizes candidate and voter participation, and minimizes the potential for abuse and exhaustion.
To maximize participation and ensure a competitive, inclusive process, nominations have also been reopened for:
- President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- ABA Representative
- At-Large Representative
- Judicial Council
- 2L BAM Rep
- 2L Blended Sec 1 Rep
- 2L Blended Sec 2 Rep
Candidates who previously submitted their materials will retain their eligibility and may continue their campaigns. New candidates will be permitted to begin campaigning only after being confirmed eligible by the Election Commission.
The SBA Board is calling on students to answer the need for committed leadership as we work toward building SBA. Your involvement matters, and your voice belongs in these conversations.
If you’ve ever considered getting involved, now is the time. Answer the call.
