Spots still available for the fall semester. Students who are rising 2Ls and 3Ls (with at least 24 credits completed after summer session) can participate, including remote and hybrid students.
The Criminal Justice Defense Externship gives students the opportunity to gain valuable courtroom experience by representing clients in their criminal cases while externing at a Public Defender’s office. There are placement opportunities with all of the MN Public Defender’s offices both in the metro area and in outstate Minnesota; in-person and remote options. Students do not need to bring a placement, but they can use a position they already have set up with a public defender’s office or a private criminal defense lawyer for the externship.
Anyone who is interested or has questions can contact Shawn Webb directly at [email protected]. He would be happy to discuss these opportunities and answer any questions.
