Intense simulations of the law in practice
These courses allow students to simulate the work that lawyers do in an environment of greater support and supervision than new lawyers commonly experience in practice. Practice Intensives integrate doctrine and skills in small-class settings with significant involvement from practitioners in the field. Practice Intensives simulate the experience of the beginning, middle, and end of a case or legal procedure within one semester, where a semester in an externship or clinic seldom covers the complete “arc” of a case.
Students in Practice Intensives identify necessary tasks and manage their own time. Courses require students to reflect on what they are doing and learning so they can identify professional goals and insights on their own. Practice Intensives are the final piece in the transition to practice.
