A holistic approach
Our model for academic advising at Mitchell Hamline is comprehensive and holistic.
Each student works with a team consisting of an academic adviser who helps map out a plan to graduation, a career and professional development counselor who offers guidance and facilitates connections to a career path, and an academic excellence specialist who provides preparation for the bar exam. We start working with you as a prospective student, and you are assigned to an adviser after you deposit to reserve your place in the first-year class. We continue to offer services throughout your time in law school, through graduation and bar passage, and into your career.
For your first year if you’re in the on-campus option, and for the first two years if you are enrolled in the blended-learning or part-time option, you will take a standard group of courses along with the rest of your cohort. After that, you will have options for electives, and your adviser will meet with you one on one to help select courses to fulfill requirements for certificates, to prepare for the bar exam, or simply to satisfy areas of interest for you.
Mitchell Hamline is a national leader in offering coursework in a variety of online, in-person, and blended formats. Both full-time and part-time enrollment options are available for you if your situation changes. As the region’s largest law school, our variety of course offerings, experiential programs, and specialization is unmatched. And we can help make sure you’ll be eligible to take the bar exam in any state you choose.
