If you need to find housing, here are some places to start your search:
#GreatForMitchellHamline Although Mitchell Hamline does not have campus housing, each month, people in the Twin Cities (and usually in the immediate neighborhoods surrounding campus) contact us wishing to rent their privately-owned properties—including apartments, houses and duplexes. We post any information we get to the incoming class Facebook Groups and tell landlords to include #GreatForMitchellHamline in their listings
#GreatForMitchellHamlineStudentsApartments.com This is a good resource students have used to find local housing. This search engine allows you to custom select an apartment, house, or even a condo according to your individual needs.
Padmapper.com This is also a good site to find local housing. This search engine allows you to look on a map of all available apartments in the area with an adjustable scale to filter things like price, number of bedrooms, and number of bathrooms.
ApartmentList.com Another great resource for housing in Saint Paul and the surrounding area. Each city on this website is broken down into neighborhoods, highlighting pricing, noise level, nearby attractions, restaurants, shopping, etc. to make the search as seamless as possible. Check them out!
Bulletin Boards Students and alumni post houses and apartments for rent on the bulletin boards around campus.
Drive around the neighborhood! Many of the landlords post signs in the yard or the apartment windows they are renting. Write down the number, and call them for more information. Many times they will meet you at the apartment very quickly to show you the place!
A couple of tips…
Mitchell Hamline is located in the Summit Ave/Grand Ave/Victoria Crossing neighborhood of St. Paul. Some of the immediate surrounding neighborhoods are called: Crocus Hill, Cathedral Hill, and Mac/Groveland. Many of these neighborhoods are within walking distance of campus. Many students also live in Minneapolis, which is also an easy 10-15 minute commute.
Most local housing becomes available in May or July, with move-in dates of June or August. There are five colleges and universities within a few miles of Mitchell Hamline. Due to the large number of college students, leases generally run yearly according to the academic calendar.
