Jeff Holst has been named a shareholder of the Jacobson Law Group. Since joining the Firm in 2015, Jeff has built a reputation for providing excellent legal services to tribes and tribal entities, with a focus on tribal governance and litigation. Jeff represents tribes in all facets of daily tribal governance, including human resources, housing, code development, application of federal laws, public safety, gaming, conservation, land management, cultural resources protection, and economic development. In his litigation practice, Jeff has successfully represented tribal clients in a broad array of lawsuits in federal, state, and tribal courts, including jurisdictional challenges, land disputes, tort claims, and contract matters. He specializes in defending tribes’ sovereign rights in the courtroom, securing decisions that broadly recognize sovereign immunity for tribal entities and officials, as well as tribes’ inherent jurisdiction over members and non-members. In addition to his practice, Jeff serves as an adjunct professor in the Native American Law and Sovereignty Institute at Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
