Annie Gemmell (ANN ee GEM el, she/her/hers) graduated from William Mitchell College of Law (one of the predecessor schools of Mitchell Hamline) in May 2012 and started working in Admissions at the school in 2013. She became dean of Admissions in 2018 and vice president of Enrollment in 2020.
She has also worked as an editor for an online ethics treatise published by the Minnesota Bar Association, volunteers with the Immigration Volunteer Attorney Program at Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid in Minneapolis, and serves on the board of directors for the Loan Repayment Assistance Program of Minnesota (LRAP-MN), a non-profit organization that helps public interest attorneys pay their loans so they can focus on providing legal aid to low-income clients. She has taught the first-year legal writing class in the Blended Learning program as well.
While a student at Mitchell, Annie participated in the Jessup International Law Moot Court, the Journal of Law & Practice, and the Environmental Law Society. Before law school, she spent almost 10 years working in higher education, in admissions and with international students. She worked at the University of St. Thomas and North Hennepin Community College. She was a first-generation college student, earning a B.A. from the University of St. Thomas in English and Communication Studies and an M.A from the University of St. Thomas in English.
Interests/interesting facts: Annie is a fourth-generation Northeast Minneapolis kid who now lives in South Minneapolis with her husband, Chris, and son, Robert. She enjoys swimming laps, reading on her back patio in the summer, and hiking in the mountains of Montana.
