Muteeat Lawal is a 2019 graduate of Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, by way of Cedar Hill, Texas, she came to Minnesota in 2016 to attend law school. Muteeat completed her undergraduate studies in English and psychology from Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass. Shortly thereafter, she worked briefly for a health insurance company before deciding to attend law school. During law school, she studied comparative law during a study abroad in London, interned at United Health Group, clerked for the Ramsey County Public Defender’s Office, and the Federal Defender’s Office. Upon graduation she was a judicial law clerk to Judge Nicole Starr in the Second Judicial District of Minnesota. She is an Assistant Hennepin County Attorney practicing in the juvenile prosecution division. She also works as an adjunct tutor for the Academic Excellence office tutoring recent graduates for the bar exam. In her spare time, she enjoys taking her Aussiedoodle, Prince, to the dog park and traveling to new destinations with her son.
