Ayesha Riaz is a senior lecturer at the University of Greenwich, School of Law and Criminology. She studied law and graduated with a first-class degree. She then completed the bar vocational course and was granted the Hardwicke Scholarship from Lincoln’s Inn. She completed an LL.M. She has worked with asylum seekers for seven and a half years whereby she assisted detained asylum seekers. She is pursuing a Ph.D. at Queen Mary University of London where she is investigating the relationship between the British State and solicitors that help asylum seekers in the UK. She worked at a legal aid firm in the UK and provided legal advice and assistance to those that were vulnerable such as detained and non-detained asylum seekers/victims of domestic violence and victims of trafficking.
