Charles H. Johnson is the owner of Charles H. Johnson and Associates, a products liability law firm. He was a founder of Maple Bank, a community bank in the northern suburbs of the Twin Cities. He served on the board of Hamline University from 2006–14. He was named Hamline University School of Law distinguished alumnus in 2012.
