Adjunct/Affiliated Professor
Der Yang is a highly regarded attorney from the Hmong-American community. A graduate of Hamline University and University School of Law, Yang has been practicing in the Twin Cities since 2005. She was recognized by Minnesota Women’s Press in 2018 as a Changemaker for her community service, nontraditional leadership, successful representation of her clients, and advocacy of justice. Yang works from a strong foundation of care and legal knowledge; her practice is informed by an understanding of the complex intersectionality of race, culture, gender, sexuality, language, and power. In 2018 the Volunteer Lawyers Network spotlighted Yang in recognition of her commitment to justice and access for the disadvantaged. Yang practices proudly on the east side of St. Paul, one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the city, where she grew up as a refugee and where she is choosing to raise her family.
