Adjunct/Affiliated Professor
Assistant State Public Defender, Office of the Minnesota Appellate Public Defender
Erik Withall graduated from Mitchell Hamline in 2012 and joined the Office of the Minnesota Appellate Public Defender where he has represented people convicted of crimes on appeal and postconviction relief ever since. He is one of the facilitators for the postconviction clinic where students learn through experience how to represent clients, and review their convictions and sentences.
As a former postconviction clinic student, Erik values experiential learning as a way to contextualize the concepts learned in the classroom to real-life clients in need of legal representation.
