Adjunct/Affiliated Professor
Prof. Fortson has a J.D. from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Minnesota. He is admitted to practice law in Alaska. He taught legal studies at the University of Alaska Justice Center from Fall 2012 to Fall 2024. Prior to that Prof. Fortson focused on family law and landlord-tenant law at Alaska Legal Services and was a partner in the Northern Justice Project, a private civil rights law firm. He has published numerous articles, including on Alaska Native law and on originalism.
